Motorcycles inside vans: Bari to Poznań

In a series of 2026 shipments from Bari to Poznań, we carried motorcycles inside vans travelling on a car transporter. Consolidation reduced costs for both clients. The reported delivery time was four full working days.

Operational proof

How we handled the client brief

Clients
Two independent businesses: a motorcycle dealer and a light commercial vehicle trader.
Objective
Move both clients’ vehicles from Italy to Poland and find a more economical arrangement than separate transport.
Key considerations
The requests happened to share a direction. The main task was coordinating collection, loading and unloading so that two independent orders could travel together.
Outcome
Both clients reduced their transport costs through consolidation. Delivery took four full working days and went smoothly. We continue to use this approach periodically where the loads and route are compatible.

Route in detail

How the project was handled

  1. Two requests, one direction

The initial options were to move the vans on a car transporter and the motorcycles separately in a curtainsider or on a car transporter. We proposed using the vans’ cargo space for the motorcycles while transporting the vans themselves.

  2. Check the fit before collection

We checked the door openings and the dimensions of the equipment. The series used vans of different sizes, mainly small and medium models. The vehicles needed to fit the proposed arrangement; a shared destination alone was not enough.

  3. Collect in Bari, then collect the motorcycles en route

Collection started with the vans in Bari, followed by a stop to collect the motorcycles along the route. We coordinated the participants and the collection sequence for the combined transport.

  4. Loading and documentation

The motorcycle shipper loaded the motorcycles into the vans. Floor protection and dedicated stands or wheel stops were used. A separate CMR consignment note was issued for each vehicle or item of equipment.

  5. Delivery to Poznań and specialist unloading

The vans travelled on a car transporter with the motorcycles inside. Specialist contractors were engaged for unloading. The reported actual delivery time was four full working days, with no problems reported.

Where the savings came from

The saving came from combining two transport requirements. The vans were cargo in their own right, but their interiors also accommodated the motorcycle shipment. Both clients benefited, including the van customer, who welcomed the lower cost.

This page covers several shipments in 2026, not one departure. The photographs show different vans and loading arrangements from the series; an ATV was also carried. They are not a step-by-step record of a single load.

Separate documents, clearly defined protection

Each unit had its own CMR consignment note. Placing a motorcycle inside a van did not make it disappear from the transport documentation.

These shipments used carrier liability insurance under CMR, without a separate cargo insurance policy. We do not present that arrangement as comprehensive cargo cover or a guarantee of full-value compensation. Insurance terms for a new shipment need to be agreed separately.

When this arrangement makes sense

This is an option for dealers, importers and exporters whose vehicle shipments can be combined on a suitable route. Our contribution was coordinating the two orders, the additional collection and the loading and unloading teams.

Space inside a van is only the starting point. For a new request, we assess the equipment, handling arrangements and overall cost. If consolidation offers no economic benefit or creates risks for the clients, we choose another solution.

Questions about this shipment

Was this a single shipment?

No. This is a series of shipments in 2026 using the same consolidation approach. We continue to use it periodically, but do not describe it as a scheduled service or a fixed-capacity offer.

Is four working days a guaranteed transit time?

No. Four full working days is the actual delivery time reported for this case. Timing for another shipment depends on its collection points, vehicle readiness and agreed transport arrangements.

How much did each client save?

Both clients’ costs fell because of consolidation. We do not publish amounts or percentages. A new enquiry requires a separate comparison of the combined and separate transport options.

What should a client provide for a similar enquiry?

Collection and delivery locations, the types and dimensions of the vans and motorcycles, quantities and readiness dates. We use these details to assess whether the shipments can be combined; the client does not need to organise the transport coordination.
