Project brief
Key shipment parameters
- Route

- Format
- Road transport of a classic car
- Actual delivery time
- 13 days from collection to handover
- Transport
- Open car transporter + curtainsider from the Turkish border
Operational proof
How we handled the client brief
- Sender
- Vehicle dealer / showroom in Dubai
- Objective
- Organise the delivery of a 1996 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur from a dealer in Dubai to its recipient in Rustavi, Georgia. The project took place in July 2026; the sea alternative did not suit the required delivery timing.
- Key considerations
- The road route crossed Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria before entering Turkey. It required a transfer from an open car transporter to a curtainsider at the Turkish border. The open leg also exposed the vehicle to desert dust.
- Outcome
- The car was handed over in Rustavi 13 days after collection in Dubai. It was accepted without damage; the only issue noted was dust. There were no major problems during transport and no additional charges above the agreed logistics price.
Route in detail
How the project was handled
Collection from the Dubai dealer
We organised collection of the 1996 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur from the dealer in Dubai in July 2026. Our service covered logistics; we did not arrange export or import clearance.
Open car transporter through the transit countries
The first leg was by open car transporter through Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria towards Turkey. On this section, the car was exposed to desert dust and other outdoor conditions.
Transfer at the Turkish border
At the Turkish border, the car was unloaded from the open car transporter and loaded into a curtainsider. The vehicle carrying the car changed, but the entire shipment remained a road transport operation.
Covered road leg through Turkey
The car continued through Turkey to Georgia inside the curtainsider. Only this final part of the route was covered; the initial leg from Dubai was on an open transporter.
Handover in Rustavi
The recipient accepted the Rolls-Royce in Rustavi without damage; the only issue noted was dust. The full period from collection in Dubai to handover was 13 days. The agreed logistics price remained unchanged.
Why this delivery went by road
Sea transport would have taken too long for this project. We therefore organised a road route from Dubai through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria and Turkey to Georgia, with a transfer at the Turkish border.
The route was selected for this shipment in July 2026. For a similar request, we would reassess route availability, operating conditions and delivery requirements rather than assume the same route is still suitable.
The 13 days cover collection in Dubai through to handover in Rustavi. They are the actual result of this shipment, not a standard transit time for all deliveries from the UAE to Georgia.
Logistics only, with an agreed fixed price
West Matterhorn organised the transport and the transfer from the open car transporter to the curtainsider. We did not arrange export or import customs clearance.
The logistics price was agreed in advance and remained unchanged. The client paid no additional charges for our agreed service; customs clearance was outside that scope.
For a comparable delivery, we confirm the collection and handover points, vehicle details, open and covered sections, transfers and responsibility for customs clearance before quoting. The price and schedule are agreed for each new shipment.
Vehicle condition on arrival
The photographs show dust on the bodywork after the open road leg through desert conditions. The car was then carried under cover, but the dust accumulated on the earlier section remained on arrival.
The recipient accepted the vehicle without damage; the only issue noted was dust. This is an important distinction when comparing transport options: a covered final leg does not provide the same protection as enclosed transport throughout the journey.

Questions about this shipment
What does the 13-day delivery time cover?
It covers the period from collection of the Rolls-Royce in Dubai to handover in Rustavi, Georgia, in July 2026. It is the actual time for this shipment, not a guaranteed schedule for future deliveries.
Was the car transported under cover for the entire journey?
No. The first section was by open car transporter. At the Turkish border, the vehicle was transferred to a curtainsider for the onward road section through Turkey to Georgia.
Why was sea transport not used?
Sea transport would have taken too long for this project. We arranged a road route with a transfer at the Turkish border. The availability and suitability of this route must be reassessed for each new shipment.
Did West Matterhorn arrange customs clearance?
No. Our task was logistics only. Export and import clearance were not arranged by West Matterhorn in this shipment.
Were there additional charges or damage on arrival?
There were no additional charges above the agreed logistics price. The car was accepted without damage; the only issue noted was dust accumulated on the open section.
Was this a multimodal shipment?
No. Both the open car transporter and the curtainsider were road vehicles. The car changed transport vehicles, but there was no sea, rail or air leg.
